Threadless acquired a 50% equity stake in Society6. While the company continued to be operated by its three founders, none of them had any financial background. I served as a financial advisor on various financial topics, from financial reporting to auditor selection, and also led deal negotiations on the sale regarding Threadless’ investment. With Threadless’ support, Society6 grew from less than $1M revenue at the time of Threadless’ initial investment, to $15M revenue and $4M EBITDA at the time of sale, representing a 23.5x valuation multiple on EBITDA and a +30x return on investment.


Threadless acquired Bucketfeet, the Chicago-based footwear brand, in 2017. I led all facets of the acquisition, from LOI (letter of intent) through to transaction close. Additionally, I led all financial aspects of the merger including integration into the Threadless’ financial and administrative operations.


Artist Shops

In 2016, Threadless launched Artist Shops, a fully turnkey, web-based solution that allows anyone to instantly open up an e-commerce retail site to sell their content on thousands of products. Beginning with just 32K Threadless artists, Artist Shops now serves 700K registered users.

I led an insider round of fundraising to fund the tech development of the project. Additionally, I provided leadership for the platform’s user acquisition and retention strategy.


In 2022, Threadless was named to a16z’s list of the Top 100 Marketplaces.

The rankings are based on a marketplace activity score for each company that includes GMV, per Bloomberg Second Measure (for companies that Bloomberg Second Measure tracks), as well as Apptopia data for app performance and SimilarWeb data for website traffic.


Threadless acquired the Studio by Vida business, including its community of over 160,000 artists, in 2023. Similar to Bucketfeet, I led all aspects of this acquisition.


As the first CFO of In-Pipe Technology, a venture-backed cleantech startup, I faced the classic early-stage challenge: building financial infrastructure from scratch while managing tight cash flow. I led the completion of a $5 million Series B fundraising round, restructured the company as a Delaware C-corp, and created their first equity compensation plan. More importantly, I built the budgeting, forecasting, and cash management systems that helped the company maintain its liquidity and grow, ultimately setting up the business for acquisition.
